Scott Weis, a high school science teacher for Miller High School, was accepted into the 2019 FDA Professional Development Program in Food Science. Mr. Weis was one of only 17 high school teachers in the nation to be selected for this competitive program.
The program includes an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., where Weis will participate in a week-long training designed to prepare high school teachers to teach topically relevant lessons in food science to their students.
In addition to this professional development, Mr. Weis is also being awarded $500 for classroom supplies, which can be used to support his instruction of food science at Miller High School.
Congratulations, Mr. Weis, on this outstanding achievement, and thank you for your valuable contributions to Southern Local School District.
