MILLER HIGH SCHOOL / KROGER REWARDS PROGRAM

Miller High School has partnered with Kroger’s Community Rewards. A portion of each sale made at Kroger will be donated to our school to help with the cost of student agendas, awards, and many more items.

To Use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:

Visit http://www.kroger.com. Once logged into their Kroger account you can search for MILLER HIGH SCHOOL either by name or LT512 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address, and a rewards card.

*Customers must have a registered Kroger rewards card account to link to your organization.

*If you do not yet have a Kroger rewards card, they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger.

*This will not affect your fuel points or cost you any additional money.

JR High Track Track

These 5 Miller middle school track and field athletes received awards for their outstanding season.

Ethan Tucker and Alivea Luning for most points scored. David Lanning the throwing award, Hannah Hartley for a most outstanding sprinter, and Jeremiah Boley the 7th-grade award.

The girl's 4x400 relay team of Grace Rider, Alivea Luning, Hannah Hartley, and Emma Lanning broke the high school record with their 2nd-place performance in the MSL league meet.

Find Meals for Kids When Schools are Closed
USDA Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder

USDA works closely with states to ensure that children who receive on free or reduced-price school meals can get the nutrition they need when schools are closed – whether during summer break or unexpected closures during the school year. Through USDA's summer meal programs, approved sites in communities across the country can serve meals to kids up to age 18 at no cost. Families can use this tool to find directions to nearby meal sites, as well as their hours of operation and contact information.

As of May 18, 2023 the site finder has data for 25 states, and includes: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MT, NC, ND, OH, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI.

 

Families seeking food assistance for their children can also contact the USDA National Hunger Hotline, operated by Hunger Free America. The hotline can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) (for English) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).

Miller High Schools Softball Team Earned the Sectional Title Softball

Our Softball Team earned the Sectional Title on May 10, 2023. This is the first Sectional Title for the softball team since 1995!! As their season continues, let's all make sure they know they have the support of all of us here and all the Falcon fans of the community!!

Our Staff at Southern Local Schools would like to congratulate the softball players for their hard work this season as well as Coach Agriesti, Coach Plant, Volunteer Coach Agriesti, and Volunteer Coach Dishon.

Summer Meal Distribution Schedule for Perry County District Library Locations

Beginning June 5 and running through July 29, all PCDL locations (including the bookmobile) will be providing grab-n-go meal packs weekly (provided by Children’s Hunger Alliance). Days & Times are:

Bookmobile, all community stops (add a link to bookmobile schedule)

Corning-Mondays, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Crooksville- Mondays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 245-330 p.m.

Junction City Branch-Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00 p.m.

New Lexington (Main)-Wednesdays, 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Somerset Branch-Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Thornville Branch-Tuesdays, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

In addition, Corning Branch Library will be serving lunches at the library Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (provided by the SE Ohio Foodbank).

Please note, we are also doing a BIG GRAB-N-GO food distribution to help families in that time between school being out and summer food service starting. Each child will receive 2 meal packs (each having a mix of breakfasts and lunches) starting May 30th and running while supplies last. This was funded by our United Way food insecurities grant.

Mrs. Moore's First Grade Class Picture

Mrs. Moore’s first-grade class published a class book through a company called Studentreasure. Each student researched an insect and wrote and illustrated 2 pages in the book to create the class story, “Insects Around Us”.

Summer Camp Flyer

Day Camp opportunities this summer. This flyer (attached) will provide the info for any of your teens (ages 13 through 17) to examine. In addition to the YouthShops! Summer Camp, we are offering our Counselor In Training program that will coincide with our regular camp days. The counselors-in-training the crew will be actively engaged in the goings on of camp, planning activities for the kids as well as going on their own adventures. This opportunity for older campers prepares them for leadership and mentoring they may not otherwise get to experience. Teens should sign up with their guardians at the Tecumseh Theater at 8:30 am, Tuesday, June 6th.

2023 Best of Class best of class

Class of 2023 students Jeb Bolyard, Valedictorian, and Brynley Needham, Salutatorian, found time to play a little at the Columbus Metropolitan Library after filming for 2023 Best of Class. They were among 250 students from Central Ohio invited to participate in ABC 6 and FOX 28 Best of Class filming. Watch for the segments soon to be aired on the previously mentioned channels.

Calling all Falcon fans! Miller High School's Athletic Department is excited to announce its new online Falcon Fan Store! The online store is accessible year-round and has a wide variety of Falcon fan gear - such as hats, blankets, shirts, drinkware, hoodies, jackets, and accessories. Items are available as sport-specific or non-specific all-school spirit wear. Check it out and stock up on some Falcon gear!

Franklin B. Walter Award BN

Miller High School, Southern Local Schools, would like to give a Falcon Shout Out to Brynley Needham for being selected by the Athens-Meigs ESC for the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Perry County.  This award was established in 1989 by Ohio's educational service center superintendents to recognize outstanding student achievement. The recipients recognized are some of the best and brightest students in the Class of 2023. To recognize these awardees, the OESC held a luncheon on April 18, 2023, at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center in Lewis Center, Ohio. Brynley was joined by her parents, Lloyd and Laurie Needham, her invited guests, Mr. Jeff Shoemaker, Math Teacher, and Missy Jones, College and Career Coordinator, both of Miller High School, as well as Heather Wolfe, Superintendent, Athens-Meigs ESC, along with other high school students representing each of Ohio's eighty-eight counties. We would like to congratulate Brynley and all of those students who were nominated and selected for their outstanding achievements.

On Wednesday, April 18 Miller FFA Students Emma Starlin, Scarlett Alfman, Olivia Dishon, Abby Wood, Abby Keller, Jada Banik, and Willow Grahame attended and competed in the Tri-County Envirothon held on April 18, 2023, at Dillon State Park in Zanesville, OH, Muskingum County. They were accompanied by their VoAg teacher and FFA Advisor, Ms. Chloe Wilson.
