Hello and welcome back from the holiday break!
TRIO now offers tutoring! We would like to welcome Mrs. (Brownell) Dawkins on board as our TRIO Tutor. I am also making an attempt to get Peer Tutoring back up and running again, however, there are some challenges that are being addressed.
Students can be referred by you, the student, a parent/guardian, or a teacher can make a referral as well. All forms are electronic and are sent directly to me, Ms. Jones the TRIO Talent Search Coordinator for review. Part of that review process is checking with the teacher of the class they wish to receive tutoring to gain additional insight into what the student needs.
-Tutoring will be on a first come first serve basis as there are only
-All TRIO tutoring is done after school hours and the tutor will establish those times. You will be contacted regarding this
- A student has to be in TRIO in order for them to receive tutoring- If you are not in TRIO go ahead and complete the form and the process of getting the student into TRIO can start.
If you are not currently in TRIO, you may still fill out this form. Ms. Jones will contact you if you need to take any additional steps.

TRiO Talent Search program is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education that is being implemented in the Southern Local School District to assist in your students’ academic success. All students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to apply for this program. The program is designed to identify and assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education.
TRiO Talent search publicizes the availability of financial aid and assist participants with the post-secondary application process. Our goal is to encourage students to persist and complete high school and to enroll in and complete a college of their choice. Once your student in enrolled in TRiO they will not have to re-enroll during their high school career and this comes at no cost to you.
